Grade II rebar is the old name for hot-rolled ribbed steel bars. The new standard name is HRB335, and it is mainly used in civil engineering projects such as houses, bridges, and roads [1] [2]. Its name is composed of the first letters of "hot rolled", "ribbed", and "bars" in English, and the yield strength characteristic value. The grade II and grade III rebar in the old standard correspond to HRB335 and HRB400 respectively [1].
This rebar is smelted using the 20MnSi steel grade, with tensile and compressive design strengths of 300 MPa. According to national standards, the nominal diameter range is 6-50mm, and the weight tolerance decreases with the increase in diameter (from ±6% to ±4%) [1] [2]. Hot-rolled ribbed steel bars must meet surface form specifications, including requirements such as the cross-rib angle and the total gap, and the smelting methods are mainly converter or electric arc furnace.
